The stinkin' Giants beat us today, which I guess is the cool thing to do these days. Everyones doing it. Its ok. Actually, nah. This sucks. RIP season

Times like these makes me want to block out all the Eagle Haters out there, and send this post out to all of you long time fan. I give to you die hards a list of some memorable Eagle players/characters/ coaches/ memories. Here we go.................................

The VET TURF-- This was like playing football in a parking lot. I loved hearing opponents bitch out when it came to playing the deceased Veterans Stadium. It was responsible for the END of that cockroach Michael Irvins career. You could also see the bases stick out in the middle of the field. Sometimes I feel like i was raised at that place. I loved the Vet.

Angelo Cataldi and Ed Rendell leading a bunch of crazies to Boo the Drafting Of McNabb-- This was classic. A whole pack of drunk eagles fans took the trip up to NYC with 610 radio personality Cataldi. People were sweating Ricky Williams, even the current mayor of the city, Rendell. It was a sign for things to come for donny MaC. He would continue to have personal challenges almost every year of his career. Ultimately, it would make him very stubborn. I think he stopped scrambling so much to prove a pointless point that he wouldnt be a running QB. So he stopped doing the most effective part of his game. Thanks moron.

Beating the Falcons----Goin to the Super Bowl-- I was there. It was so joyous, it was all love. Nothing else in the world mattered, the Birds were going to Jacksonville. I was only a few rows back in my buddy's seats when the celebration was going on. I felt like i was on the team. Maybe like a 5th receiver/special teamer or something.

Fans Chucking Snowballs and Batteries-- Oh yeah, I can remember that. That again was what the Vet was all about. You had to come strong back in those days or else you would crumble. Buddy Ryan had a hell of a defense that was feared. Who remembers the intimidation of that 700-level? Cant remember if i ever saw a game up there>?>?>?

Hardest Hitter EVER Seen---- TIM HAUCK

Biggest Bum as a Coach-- Ray Rhoades. Much worse than Kotite.

Stan Walters or Mike Quick-- I give that one to Quick. He cracks me up. fyi(if you dont know)-- talking about the radio sidekicks of Merrill Reese.

Biggest Eagle Killer-- 1. Ronde Barber 2. Jake Plummer 3. Joe Jurevicious.

Greatest Merrill Call-- only one thing comes to my mind---- "and they stop 'em again"<-- stopping Emmitt Smith 4 times straight for a hell of a goal line stand.

Sign Man at the Vet. This guy always had an opinion. He posted a new sign each week below his seats in big bold print that was clearly read by 9/10 of the stadium.

Destroying the Lions in the playoff game many yearts ago where the Birds scored something like 50+ points.

Most notable quotable -- Ricky Watters "For who, For what" Just catch the stinking ball man.

Thats enough reminiscing for one night. Im out. Gotta get some sleep.

You May Have Seen the End of My Positivity

Alright guys, this is getting unbearable. I mean Im not turning my back on my team, Im still as big of a fan today as I was on Super Bowl Sunday, but my patience is gone. I cant keep looking, week after week, for the bright side of things, no more silver linings. The loss to the Cowboys on Monday Night broke my heart into a thousand pieces. A little piece of me truly died when Roy Williams entered the end zone. This sucks. For the most part-- the seasons over.
Let me just reiterate something. This is not a case of jumping off the bandwagon, to me there is no bandwagon when it comes to the eagles. I will be a fan til the day i die. I'm just telling it like it is, and that is that the Birds HAD that game in their pocket and they did not win it. They are 0-3 in the division and do not have 2 out of the 3 players on offense that opposing defenses fear most. Of course Im talking about #5 and #81. I do not see the fight in them anymore. I dont see the killer instinct in the eyes of the players. I do not feel the confidence coming from the coaching staff.
As you could tell, not only am I upset about losing back to back division game, Im also pissed about it. I said a few posts ago that the Birds are the best team in the division. Im telling you right now that they are not. Having a winning team includes more than just the talent on the field. Though it may sound obvious, the Eagles must be able to WIN football games. They cant do that right now. It comes as a kick in the ass. We're used to seeing them roll on teams. By this time last year, they had the division all but locked up. We have to realize that those days are over.
From a very sad to the rest of yall, I hope you guys have a pleasant holiday season and a happy new year.
Peace!
Drew

I wirlwind through cities--week 10

im just sitting up here late at night just waiting for the showdown against the 'boys tomorrow night. OH MAN, this is a big game. We gotta be able to show that we're not gonna let a division rival beat us twice in one season. So far, nothing major has happened to lead me to beleive that all the sudden the giants or redskins or cowgirls own the division. Its the still the eagles---the defending nfc champs. Everyone around me is going bonkers for their teams, but it really hasnt been proven yet that the birds are gonna retire from the top spot. The cowboys at night and then a visit to smelly jersey for the giants game. This is the time to bring it with experience and with a tenacity to play well enough to win these football games!! Donovan must play well enough to win, with his season, i want him to play well enough to win, thats all im asking for. He should not be asked to be incredible, just to be good. The cowboys like to run and im pretty sure there main threat julius jones should be starting. A key will be for our depleted D line to get pressure on Bledsoe. Heres hoping that happens, though im not optimistic.
My ass was in front of the tube all day long watching todays games and I'll let you guys in on some of my takes from the games.

there are some teams in this league that dont know how to run an offense. The Jets come to mind right away. Not far behind them are the awful Ravens. These 2 teams stink so bad that Delaware is getting the leftover stink that is coming from these two flunkies

I cant catch a lousy in fantasy. no need to elaborate that

a good WR will beat the majority of these corners in this league 9-10 times. The nfl has some real solid wrs out there and i feel certain teams will benefit down the stretch from these big play guys. Names ::::>> plaxico, hines ward, steve smith, chad johnson

Indy is playing at a higher level than the patriots ever did in the regular season. Real Deal Holyfield in this colts team. Kinda makes you miss Corey Simon.

worst player that has a starting job in the NFL - Brooks Bollinger <<<>

SO just remember everyone DALLAS SUCKS!!!!!!!
bye everytbody!!! drew

WHAT NOW?? i got the answers!!!!!

Disclaimer: There will be no TO talk ever again on this blog. There is no reason for it. He is not on the team anymore and has no effect on the birds reaching another Super Bowl. To me, he doesnt exist.

So we got a shock down in Landover this past Sunday Night when the flat looking Eagles lost to a very mediocre team in the Redskins. I was there in person, had to be to get a real feel for the how the new Birds offense would play. I got what I expected, and thats not a good thing. They need to find their identity. Theres many players on that offensive unit that are capable of contributing, it's just up to McNabb to spread the ball effectively. All the pressure in the world is now on the shoulders of #5, he needs to show his true colors. So far this season, Im extremely disappointed in his play. So come on Eagles fans. Look at the picture. FEEL the picture above. We are not the same as other fans around the league. You gotta realize that this is OUR team. Eagles fans cant lose hope only midway through the season. I still hold to my word that the eagles are an elite team in the league. If, and when, they pull it together and roll off a few wins, the ones who kept their faith in the team will be rewarded. The ones who gave up hope will feel like chumps. Which one are YOU??
Those cowgirls are going down on Monday Night! come on birds, get this win!!!

TO Banged up, Big Divisional Games Looming

Hows everyone feeling out there in Eagles Country? I think I know the answer to that, but I'm here to say that there is no need to start FREAKIN OUT. Don't do it. Don't listen to the bozos on ESPN and by all means dont let them brainwash you into thinking that the Giants are a better team than the Eagles. They are not. Neither are the cowgirls or the redskins (who flat out stink). When it comes down to it, the birds are the most talented team in the NFC, they are accustomed to winning, and they have the leadership to do that. But i will say this, they got some work to do. There are blatant problems to fix on offense AND defense. There is also the injury bug.....
Looks like our boy TO is going through some problems with the same leg that was injured last season. Check out the article ESPN.com posted on their site today(11-2). http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2211321
So I guess this is last thing that anyone who pulls for the green and silver want to hear. All the NFL is an elaborate game of survivor. The healthier teams are the ones who succeed. It may not sound like its serious, but I think its pretty bad news. Something like this, combined with the inaptitude of McNabb and the running game, may cause the TO from the summer to re-emerge. Hes tough to figure out. He has ALWAYS been all business when it comes to playing in the real games, ala the superbowl. He only caused stinks when the season wasnt underway. Lets hope he stays in season form.
But let me just come full-circle for a minute. The Eagles are still the Champions of the NFC. I am still saying they are going to the super bowl. The team just needs to make adjustments, you know-- work on some things. Andy Reid needs to prove right now that he is an elite coach. I guess that will fall under the TBA catagory.
With that being said, I'll be in DC this weekend watching the Birds prove themselves on Sunday Night Football. Maybe i'll check out that bozo in the White House while im there and smack him around a bit. PEACE everyone

so many questions---- I got the answers

This is not last year's birds squad. No longer do we have the days where we know that the wins can come easily. But let me say this--- THE EAGLES ARE STILL AN ELITE TEAM IN THE NFL. Let me also say this, though the other three NFC East teams are improved- THE EAGLES ARE THE BEST TEAM IN THE DIVISION. With that outta the way, here is a Q and A session that will address some major issues involving Gang Green.

How does the offense regain its intimidation factor? ANSWER: Take the pressure off Donovan by mixing in the run. Everyone that watches the Birds knows that they pass ALL the time, and this is conducive to do with a banged up qb. Westbrook can be effective on the ground, i think mostly running him around the edges and doing some misdirection plays. Also, they gotta get the ball to TO. In the words of Eagle great Mike Quick, "You gotta fire your big gun." Against the Chargers, TO did not get the ball enough. Let him make some plays.

Is the defense playing up to its potential? ANSWER: Almost. They're not quite there because I do not see the push being strong enough on the line. A championship calibur defense will control the line of scrimmage on most downs, meaning there will be constant pressure on the opposing qb. I do not see this happening enough with the eagles front 4. They have had some injuries, but as the season goes on we need to see more sacks and hurries coming from the D line.

Will the signing of Jose Cortez( former Dallas kicker) be an upgrade from Todd France? ANSWER: Lets hope so. But never trust a former cowgirl, especially a kicker. Anyone remember the song from Seinfeld that Elaines coworkers sang? It went like this and i send it out to David Akers.... "Get well, get well soon, we want you to get well."

Thats all for now. Keep it real Eagles fans. PEACE!!!

dReW

...And They Stop 'Em Again!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At my old age of 22, some of my memories are starting to fade a little bit. But some things you don't forget, and you can just remember those things so vividly. One of these things for me was the Birds Defense in 1995 when they stoped the Cowboys 4 times in a row in what was an epic goal-line stand and a defining point in what builds my hatred for the Cowboys. Emmitt Smith, one of the best running backs to ever grace the gridiron, got PUT IN HIS PLACE by what I'm pretty sure was one of Buddy Ryan's defenses. To put it bluntly, this is what Eagles writer Dave Spadaro wrote this week:

Dallas-Philadelphia certainly transcends what happens on the football field.

This is also our first test against our division. It's a big game because these are the teams you gotta beat. These are the games when momentum really moves in the favor of the team thats the best in the division. With the other 3 NFC East teams on the improve, the Eagles must establish that nothing has changed over the past couple of years. They are still the team to beat. Giants fans make me almost as sick as cowboy fans, better known as cockroaches. The division games are huge, they must be won.
I have just learned that David Akers may miss the majority (if not all) of the regular season, but should be fine come playoff time. This is a setback, but as long as #5 is taking the snaps, we should be just fine.
The victory against the Chiefs should have been to noones surprise that is an Eagles fan. This team is good, and a defecit to some AFC chumps is nothing that cant be overcome. The leaders on and off the field keep this thing going, and it aint slowing down for some stupid cockroaches!!
i may also want to add---LETS GO FLYERS
peace everyone
drew

Some Hurtin Birds and a man named todd

I'm a little less hype for this entry than I have been recently. I'm worried about Donovan. If he's not healthy, he's not going to play up to his potential. And its real early in the season for #5 to be so banged up. We've seen him play well when he has been injured in the past, however, the man is human and he needs to be healthy for the Eagles to be successful. I dont think this is news to anyone. Im just saying my fingers are crossed that he somehow makes it through the season without further injury.
Anyway, I was at the game against the Raiders, and I was thoroughly entertained. Seeing McNabb pass 50 times a game is something thats gonna remain a constant, becuase Andy won't change his tune no matter whos back there. I think the passing game won't look very different in the coming weeks from what it looked like in the first 3 weeks. McNabb won't run, but he hasnt been anyway this year.
As for the matchup against the Chiefs-- here are my keys to the game:

#5 must get the ball out fast-- The less of a lickin that Donavan takes, the better. The O-line hasn't been playing bad this year, but yet they're not doing anything too special. The major blows that #5 has had this year have come from hits from linemen, surely enough to place blame on the line. But for the most part, they have kept the pressure off of Donny MAc.

Hi, my name is TODD, TODD FRANCE. I cant help but snicker at his name, but he needs to prove himself to this team. If he can make a few kicks early, the Birds will surely be in control of this game. The thing we know about the Birds is that they can score touchdowns, now we wonder if they can make field goals.

Old man River vs. Big Fat Andy. I think that Andy needs to redeem himself after making some real bonehead moves prior to and during the Raiders game. He needs to outcoach Dick Vermeil, and have answers to anything that offense throws at his D. I bet that for some reason or another, we'll see some tears coming from Vermeil after the game.

KEEP IT REAL BIRDS FANS and pray for a cure for the "sports hernia"

Drew

Excuse ME, your BUM is showing

Whats up Eagles fans!!

Tomorrow the birds welcome the Raiders and Randy Moss into Lincoln Financial Field for a 1 oclock showdown. Right now Andy Reid's bunch is playing well and shows no signs of having a letdown game against the inferior talent of the Raiders. Gaining alot more nationwide hype then they are used to, this AFC West team has started out the season losing their first 2 games. The aquisition of Moss has improved their team for sure, but it has not raised their talent level high enough to make an impact.

While I know the Eagles well enough to know that no game is ever in the bag, I can say with assurance that they should not lose on Sunday.

So while Randy Moss may think that he's the best receiver on the field tomorrow, he really is not. Terrell Owens is a better big game receiver than Moss. Granted tomorrows game is not very big, hence I will not be surprised if Moss puts up better numbers than TO. However, all Eagles fans surely remember last years NFC Divisional Playoff game when Moss failed to be on the field in a fake field goal attmpt designed for him. Randy Moss doesn't have in him what Owens does have, which is that drive for success. The birds defense tomorrow will most likely do a well enough job to win, which they usually find a way to do. On a final note, I read today of a banged up Darwin Walker that is questionable for tomorrow. I'll say this---they need him and all their runstoppers working hard against Lamont Jordan tomorrow or else we are in a for a bad one. But on a lighter note--

E-A-G-L-E-S------------->> EAGLES

PEACE,

DREW (LET ME GET A T.O.) The Eagles, as we know, couldn't get it done against the Falcons on Monday night and went down 14-10. However, the game was reminiscent of the Steeler game last year. That game showed weaknesses and thus the coaching staff worked on those weaknesses. In the Falcons game, the most obvious weakness of the Eagles was their run game. For the Eagles to be successful, I truly feel that they must develop a way to run the ball effectively. I am not saying that Westbrook tries to be a 30-carry a game back, because that is not what he is. I am simply saying that the offense, whether it be the line, the receivers, and even the qb, need to know how to gather the clumps of yards that come in running the ball. Granted, Andy Reid loves to throw the ball, and of course TO will always be the most dangerous player on the field. I am just hoping that Andy softens (maybe he needs to eat some more Steve's Steaks) on his pass-first mind-set and works on the run game.
As for the defense, they looked very good. They played with intensity even without their best player in the line-up. That was a joke, the whole Trotter thing. Dont get me started on that garbage. As for the Niners coming up on Sunday, I think the Birds will play their game and not dissapoint the fans in the home-opener. Lets Go BIRDS!!!
peace,
drew

Countdown To Kickoff!!!!

The day has arrived my friends!!! At the moment, it is about an hour and a half away from gametime and I'm hype. This highly anticipated match-up will come down to the quarterbacks, both are marquee names. Here is what else I feel will play a major role in the game tonight:

The Eagles run defense. It worked well in the NFC Championship, but it still concerns me. The Falcons sure can run the ball, but can the Eagle's D weather the storm.

TURNOVERS!!! Everyone out there knows how vital this aspect of the game is. In tonight's game, they will play a huge role.

Reid vs. Mora. The battle will be won on the field as well as on the sidelines. If the past has taught us anything, it's that noone can outsmart Big Red.

On that note, I'm out. Thats the smell of opening weekend in the NFL, and all over this great country of ours football fans couldn't be happier. But I'm not hear to tell you something you already know. I'm not here to praise the Philadelphia Eagles, from Joe Banner to Jeremy Thornbourgh, we all know that every person involved with the team does their job right. I'm here to drop my opinions, commentary, and maybe even a little bit of knowledge on y'all. With that said, I need to shed some light on the most important player vs. management battle this team has faced in recent memory. If you think this is the TO debacle, your wrong. This is about my man B West .

Yesterday, Westbrook held a press conference to inform the media that contract talks between himself and the team will be put on an indefinete hiatus. Westbrook made many comments about how he felt about the big wigs that sign his check, and frankly his comments made me feel very uneasy. The man is pissed off. I even thinks he makes Terrell look like a happy camper after what he had to say. I fear that this negativity may spill over to some on-field activity, or atleast a disturbance in the locker room. You guys with me? Brian has usually been a subdued guy, and to hear him make such viscirol comments means that something is just not right in all this. We'll find out Monday Night if we'll see the same productive B-West that is so common with this offense.

On that note, Monday Night can't come soon enough.
